Fancy Nancy Birthday Party....OH MY!

My daughter turned 7 the other day and we are having a Fancy Nancy Themed birthday party this coming sunday......PINK and PURPLE and more pink!!!! From pink popcorn, to a princess cake, balloons, tea sandwiches with frilly toothpicks, fruit punch with fruit, wand making activity, dress up, games, pink the tiara on the princess, etc. And a face painter:) Not me, I hired someone to do it. SO girlie, my daughter is way to excited. My son wants to play at his friends house. I don't blame him.

Ok, we have expanded I am happy to say. I have just launched my new brand name for my hair goodies called Pink Hair Candy™. I am way too excited. I have decided to separate my business into two entities- one being the artwork and room decor and the other being the hair accessories. Since my hair goodies have been picked up by a few well known retailers (YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE) I wanted to make my two business (well three if you include my website design) into two different companies. yey:)

Hello.....I DON'T Sew!!!!

Unless you consider a simple pillow, or a button:) Well I have been searching and searching but to no avail. I love all of the boutique fabric sets that I end up buying for my daughter - from Heather Baily to Joel Dewberry to Moda and Patty Young's Andalucia...LOves it ALL!!! Yes I am addicted, to all of these delicious fabrics- and I keep buying for my daughter not even thinking that I could actually buy them for myself. I have been so caught upon boutique wear for kids, that I have been missing out. I found this funked out peasant top that I soooooooooooooooooooo want....love the pattern and I want it in all of my favorite fabrics...I would buy 10 if I could freggin' find them. All I can find is the darn pattern. But ladies - I do not sew! If I could then I would buy the pattern. Doesn't anybody, somebody make them for adults:) pretty please......????

OK while we are on the same subject...I am also looking for a reversible circle skirt for my daughter. I bought a few from this lady PoppyDreams at etsy, but she is no longer in business WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!Here is the type of skirt I want (I already have the reversible in the pink and blue swell fabric, but you will get the idea...

Can anybody point me in the right direction for either of these requests:)?

I usually take my photos of my artwork and hair accessories downstairs in the living room, thinking this area is where the best light comes in....however never even thinking my daughter would be able to model my hair pretties, and since my camera takes junk photos, the thought of taking photos upstairs in her pretty in pink room never even crossed my mind. For someone who is not a photographer in any right, I thought these came out half descent. I think I will have my daughter model my next collection if I can get her to be in a good mood. LOL

Ok I love this song called "Shadow of the Day" by Linkin Park. I didn't think adding a photo montage of my daughter's 6th birthday was appropriate for this song, so I decided to make a tribute to my friend who died this past summer. Unfortunately it was a tragedy and the media portrayed him a certain way, but his family and friends knew Spencer differently and this is a way to keep his memory alive...also Youtube wouldn't let me upload because of the copywrites to the song...

I am leaving for my trip on Saturday night for a 2 week stay in NY with my parents. Wish me luck driving..I am not looking forward to the 15 hour drive with two kids 5 and 4...ahhhh!

Finished these last two custom painting orders before I head out...Still have to make hair accessories for some of my retailers...I will be up till 3am for the next few nights LOL

The quality of the photos are aweful - I will retake them in the morning- hopefully clear skies since it rained all day today...

Hi there. Things have been a bit crazy this past week. I still have 2 more custom paintings to work on before my 2 week trip to NY. We are driving the mini van (wish me luck). Anyways, just finished these three and a bunch of headbands for my daughter's teacher - she wanted a few for her granddaughers (I will post tomorrow).

I live in a pretty nice neighborhood and most of my neighbors are super sweet and friendly. Anyways, a new family moved in down the block and as soon as I saw the kids I knew something looked odd. The kids run around without shoes all day long, bruises on their legs, the mother sits out on her lawn with a chair, smoking a cigarette and holding her baby in her arm at the same time. YOu have to envision her- she is wearing shorts that don't fit, a tank top without a bra, no shoes of course, feet all dirty, hair is silver, curly and looks like she has been electrocuted. But all in all, I try to avoid this family, UNTIL- the white trash looking family has a public argument. Yesterday, I was waiting for my daughter to arrive from school at her bus stop right in front of their home (which by the way was a forclosed home they got for next to nothing)...it was a mess before they bought it (although they may be renting who knows)...Anyways, the 10 year old boy who smokes (YES right in front of his mother), starts a screaming match at his mother, CURSING left and right in front of me and my 4 year old boy. I couldn;t leave because my daughter is only 5 and I didn;t want her bus to come and I was not there. Then all of a sudden the mother took a bat and smacked him on the head! She said in a horrible voice, you think that's bad wait till I get my hands on you!

Finally my daughters bus came, I grabbed her and crossed the street freaking out! As soon as I got home I called family services which I found on the internet. THEY Had me on HOLD. After 5 minutes, I told the person on the other end the situation and she told me to call back in the AM. I told her it might be too late. These kids look malnourished and in bad shape. Who knows what the crazy mother is going to do to tehe 10 year old when they went inside. All he did from what I could tell was take a match box car from his brother....HE DESERVED TO Be smacked on the head??????? I was scared for him so they told me to call 911....and I did.

I think they came, but they will not give me any information because even as a witness I am not privy to any information on the case. I saw the kid an hour ago walking home from somewhere- HE IS 10 and he was alone, smoking his cigarette, and it was 10 pm!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH- I have no idea what happened---was the mother taken away????is child welfare going to investigage???? I am not allowed to know.

I just want those kids to be safe. There is way to much tradegy happening in this world. It reminds me of the Lisa Steinberg case back in the 90's in NYC. It really does, and her life ended tragically:(

Hi there. I decided to do a collaboration with some of my groupmates....Penguin's are the theme. I recreated a dress made by IttyBittyWhimsy:)

and for the Wisterialane launch I made a cinderella tutubowholder for the StoryBook Launch...no sneek peaks because we are knee deep in rain and yucky weather so none of my indoor shots came out decent. Hopefully after all this rain there will be clear skies tomorrow:)

I just returned from a 2 week vacation visiting my family in NY. The kids had so much fun playing with their cousins. I miss everyone already. Here are just a few pics at my parents home...

My dear friend was killed in his NYC apartment this past Thursday and I am still in shock and in mourning. My heart goes out to his family and I will always remember the great times we shared together my good friend. I love you!!! That is me standing next to him back in 2001....

Extreme Makeover Home Edition...

Rosenberry rooms (one of my retailers) works with extreme makeover once in a while and they're next show is going to start filming March 10 th and they requested 2 paintings of mine for the little girl's princess room! I am freaking out. I have a few orders I am working on, plus some me pages.....and they want these donated in 9 days. I am totally going to do it because the exposure will hopefully be good and I can use their ad on my website and anywhere else I want. I can not wait...this was kind of the break I have been praying for. I will post more details once I hear more about it from rosenberry rooms.

I was going out to the movies with DH- but under the circumstances he was like go PAINT!

and stare at the two paintings that I need to finish for my retailers, I am thinking about new designs and new styles of graphics. I slowly integrated doing only mouse drawn graphics instead of using my own hand-painted artwork for my characters. It was so much fun and after months of practicing I think I finally figured out the best way to go about it. Here is just a graphic that I will be listing as a template either Monday or Tuesday of this week.

This is for Jenna the winner of the BDB Funniest Photo Contest that I ran. It is an 8x10" personalized fairy of for daughter Brooklyn. I painted the background shabby chic vintage with crackle paint. It came out super cool but you can't tell from the photo. Oh well.

Happy 6th Anniversary Babe!

This is a dual celebration- we have been married for 6 years (WOW!!!) it feels like I have known my british man forever! He is such a nice guy. For so many years in the dating circuit I was so miserable. Dating guys who just treated me like dirt- and for some reason I came back for more of the torture. Why - I don't know but I never liked the nice good guys- I always went for the mysterious- typical bad boys! Ask my friends, I chased after those that were more into partying then me. But almost 7 years ago I met the him! Out of nowhere this handsome, sweet and sincere brit reached out to me and thank goodness I was ready..because I was not ready to settle down before I met him.

And secondly- my dear quit smoking exactly 1 year ago. I never considered him a chain smoker, but he did smoke at least 1 a day- especially when he was stressed out. But last year he put our kids first and really did it for them- not me or himself (although he tried a bunch of times to quit for me and himself as well). And I love him even more for that! Congrats!!

I got really busy this past few days. I am all caught up with custom orders and instead of painting I sat my tush at the computer and created a swarm of graphics--fun fun fun :)

All of my graphics are from my own hand painted or mouse drawn artwork. This includes all backgrounds and scrolls. There are only a select few people on ebay who sell their own graphic work and when sellers are using graphics that they swiped from stock sites or scrap book sites then it is considered stealing when they in turn sell it in template format to the public. As an artist it really saddens me that this happens. Thanks for letting me vent so to speak LOL

I was out in LA in October visiting my brother and Disneyland for about 2 and some change weeks. Photos will follow in a few weeks when I upload them...taking forever!!

I had a lot of orders to finish upon my return. Then I had a break for about a week or tow, and thankfully things started picking up again. I hope this lasts. This is what I have been up to....

A few months ago I was tagged by Christine to post 8 things people didn't really know about me. Well I have been tagged again to list another 8 by LUCY. This will be super hard because I am an open book...here it goes.

The Rules:

1. I am a die Hard Matt Dillon wanna be forever in my heart, love you till I die, fan. I am inlove!!! Shh don't tell hubby (yeah right he knows). When I was about 23 I bumped into him at a grocery store in Manhattan and followed him back to some high rise around the corner from where I lived. Too bad the doorman refused to let me in, or I would be telling you a different scenario! LOL I loved him from the moment I saw him as Dallas WInston in the movie The Outsiders. I think I have seen every movie and interview he has ever made. Sigh :)

2. I have pink eye right now- again for the third time in one month! What am I doing wrong????

3. I went to the University of Maryland, College Park, and was in a sorority. If you knew me I was soooo not the sorority type ....But I rushed and got my first choice just so I could meet hot guys. How pathetic?

4. My kids are 16 months apart. For selfish reasons I don;t recommend it, but for my kids it was the best thing I could have ever done!

5. I opened up an ebay account on Dec. 31st, 2003 (even though my ebay account says 2005) around 11pm looking for a double stoller. I was 4 months preggo and on bed rest so NYEve went out the door! My id at the time was LeUniqueBoutique

6. When I started selling my art on ebay I need a new name and came up with this:
wendys world of art- I had wendysworldoFART for a month till Ebay let me change it to what it is now.

7. I don;t eat breakfast. Unless you count a can of Diet Dr. Pepper.

8. I hate cooking. Despise it. I do cook for my family, but it is torture for me. I'd rather eat out or get take out.

Just finished another custom off my website from a customer. This one was 3ft by 4 ft!!! At first I was scared...I usually paint on my kitchen counter or table. So for this one I painted on my brand new kitchen tile! I love the Poodles In Paris theme...

I was invited to join 7th Ave in their 5 day Launch around the world and since I didn't have time to do 5 different paintings, I decided to do a London themed paintind (dedicated to my husband, who is desperate to move back to London---not happening :)

Regardless- my husband gave his seal of approval to this one (wink)

The Hills.....How I got hooked on this show I have no idea. I somehow found it through youtube on July 4th morning. I went on the mtv site and started watching Laguna Beach all the series, and now I finished Season 2 of the Hills. Great show. Am I the only thirty something who watches this show????tee hee

Why I love my Husband?

Besides the fact that I find him totally irresistible, with his cutie pie dimple, and sexy British accent, he is such a good man. Ok, taking care of the kids while I have mommy time is just not his thing...cleaning up after himself is just not his thing, and of course, sharing his emotions is just not his thing....but

My husband told me that he watched me sleep this morning for an hour, and he said he fell inlove with me all over again. I had no idea he did this, but when I woke up this morning there was a card with breakfast waiting for me on my end table.

Maybe to you this is something your DH does everyday, but mine does not. He does other things for me like laundry, works hard for a living, and goes food shopping for me after work. But without him knowing this (I keep this to myself), I was sad yesterday because my birthday is coming up and I am shocked that I will be 37! I don;t understand how this is possible, as I think of myself in my twenties. I was feeling ugly, fat and annoyed with my self. So the fact that my husband left me a card this morning, just put things in a better perspective.

Just wanted to share this little personal aspect of my life.

This pair of handpainted and embellished jeans are for tomorrow's Kaleidoscope Funk Launch....

I started making these for gifts for friends who had babies over the past few months, and then I had a local customer who came by yesterday to pick up her paintings and saw this one I did for my daughter. She ended up ordering one from me (I never priced them and had to think of something quick). I do the basic letters, but this is more elaborate and I have to nail in the letter to the wood board. I may start selling these on my website as a single letter....

I am totally inspired to do more animal paintings with Giraffes, Lions, Tigers, Oh My! I will start another one this week when I catch up on orders. We had a blast today at the Brookfield Zoo (somewhere in Illinois- who knows--LOL) and it was such a perfect perfect day. Not too hot, not too cold- just perfect. Just sharing some photos of our day today.--one photo is rated triple xxx (hahah)

Of course every time I hear a song that I love, I have a video diary going on in my head...

I had flashbacks of my life- sort of like daydreaming about the past during this song- teenager, 20's, past guys I was inlove with, and now my DH....I even started tearing....I just think my life has changed so much over the years. I am a completely different person. I do sometimes miss my old life. It was sooooooooooooooo much fun, yet so unfullfilling. I partied way to much, and went out pretty much everynight from 18 till marriage at 30. Living in Manhattan and summer shares in the Hamptons every summer. I am glad I was able to live it and get it out of my system....but I do enjoy thinking back to all my old memories. And I can do it with this song playing as my own personal video diary...

I was searching high and low for an apron for myself to no avail. Nothing that I liked anyway....then I thought, hey I sew..why don't I just make one. So that was a few months ago. I had an idea now to make a reversible kids apron with appliques from my own handpainted art. This was one that I played around with last week- just for fun.

Don't mind the unironed fabric in my photos...I am not planning on selling this one and just wanted a photo. For myself, I am still on the prowl. LOL

ok, Amelia tagged me to reveal another 8 things about myself.....If you scroll down you will see 7 other random tid bits about me...here are 8 more...

1. My husband and I met in Israel, dated for 1 month and got engaged, and got married 3 months later!

2. I am way too vein. Appearance is very important to me...I always have to look good at all times...and so do my kids. My husband thinks I am nuts...LOL

3. I love love love fro-yo! I think I could just eat that alone!

4. My parents have really nice cherry wood furniture (DR, LR, bedrooms) waiting for me in their home....they refuse to give it to me until my kids are older. So my house now is filled with IKEA furniture.

5. I hate it here in chicago! I am from NYC and miss it. You can't really take the Newyorker out of New york!

6. Two of my really close friends growing up are in the group All Saints (well was)- remember the movie the Beach with Leo--anyway...they are famous now- but the funny thing is when I knew them in my teens they didn't have a British Accent like they do now LOL

7. I am super close with my brother and even though he is 5 years younger, I go to him for advise and spiritual uplift. He is wise beyond his years!!

8. I had braces in 7 and 8th grade. I was going to the ortho the next day to replace the wire that he removed, and that morning I decided to take my brackets off myself. I thought my mother was going to kill me..but instead she said..."wow they look gorgeous!" LOL

that is it. Now I have to think of a few more people to tag!!!

thanks to ChristineI have been tagged to describe 7 things about myself that others may not know....ok..hmmmmm this is going to be hard because I am an open book.

1. I am petrified of mice- petrified....I will move out if I ever come across one in my home!!!

2. I was a competitive swimmer. I swam all year around from the age of 4 till about 18. I had a trainer and actually placed in the national junior olympics in 1984 for the 100 meter butterfly...of course it ended there.

3. I was in a sorority in college---Alpha Phi at the University of Maryland. My freshman college roommate begged me to rush with her and I sooooo did not want to. In the end, I got my first choice and she didn't...I felt really bad.

4. I am an avid Diet Dr. Pepper Fan. I drink it all day long. It is soooooo bad...I don't even drink water. I think I drink about 15 cans a day. I need help!

5. I haven't seen my friends from home in 2 years because I refuse to see them till I lose the last 20 pounds that I packed on from my pregnancies. I sometimes still wear my maternity clothes....How sad?

6. Lastly, on a really sad note-- One of my roommate from college (who I loved with a passion and lived with after college as well) committed suicide July 4th 2005. I am still devastated by this tragedy. She was suffering from PPD and jumped off the Chesapeake bay bridge. She was not only wealthy, but stunningly beautiful, vivacious, and full of life. I love you Ellen.

I am excited to be doing a collaboration with Eva Of FreshandVintage for Wisterialane's upcoming BratPack Guest lauch. Eva will be designing an outfit based on the 80's trend-Petty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, The Outsiders, The Breakfast club...this is going to be great. I am making clippies to match her outfit and a painting with a little blonde girl wearing the design Eva makes. So far I have finished 3/4 of the painting. I painted the girl's head, but no clothes until Eva is finished.

well got rid of my store. It was time. Plus I was told several people were using my images on their websites from the templates I was selling. Ho-hum...another day in the life of ebay. Also - just to vent- I am shocked at how many people are doing clippies now. Not to make for themselves, but selling. I mean really- yes everyone uses ribbon-land as an ebay supplier. I found them about 1.5 years ago and at the time, I had no one to bid against. Now, it is ridiculous. I have been trying to do new and out of the box type clippies- but it is impossible to be original nowadays. No biggie- I love making them, so I am not going anywhere. I will keep on truckin!

Well my love for european kid designers started with my MIL who lives in Vienna. Being European she only sends the kids Oilily, Catamini, Cakewalk, etc. Love the clothes and my obsession for clippie making has taken a new turn. M2M oilily, catamini, etc.

And we get the new styles first because my MIL gets everything first! tee hee

SO here is the first in the series of my shabby chic room decor items. This is a wooden plaque,painted in white,and then layered with this gorgeous floral pattern. The letter is a toile rose pattern that I hand painted. The plaque is then adorned with substantial rose embellishments framing the design. Voilla. Coming soon is the matching lampshade...

Well my desk and, actually, my office is in my kitchen. My computer and all materials except naked canvases(keep in a closet)are in the corner of my kitchen- including fabrics,paint, brushes, boxes, bubble wrap,ribbon, mailers, emebellishments etc. All needed to keep wendysworldart afloat. However, if DH is on the computer I use the laptop on the kitchen table..the counter and the kitchen table is where I mainly work.
Here is a peek at my "desk"----the rest of the kitchen is a MESS as I had energy to start cleaning my fridge.....eeek!

what are your thoughts on these two new pillows?

My pillows are unique in that they contain appliques from my very own artwork. I paint the design on either the fabric itself or on white linen, and then fuse it and stitch it onto the pillow. In addition I add some whimsical touches including adorable embellishments that I use on my clippies, marabou, and gorgeous trim.
